I have just received my powerball from amazon.co.uk and i’m really excited about it.

Well, it is just a device that helps you exercise the wrist in order to build hand and finger strength.  All you have to do is grab the powerball and start rotating your wrist clockwise or anti-clockwisely.  The faster you rotate your wrist the faster the ball spins(can reach up to 16000rpm) and the harder it gets for you.  So, if you want to build on more muscles, then faster spins is best for you, else maintaining the spins at a rhythm that suits you best will definitely be a great fitness/rehabilitation exercise.

By the way, if you are keen to know how the powerball can spin up to 16000rpm by just rotating your wrist, then you want to check out this link. When you reach around 10000-12000 rpm, you will find it hard to maintain the rhythm and even to control the powerball.  The sensation is really amazing.  It’s like you are holding a mini rasengan in your hand ;-).

Basically the execises that you can do with a powerball are:

• lower and upper forearm
• biceps
• pectoral muscles
• Deltoid
• Grip, wrist and finger strengthening

The travel really tiring; a bit too much for me.  If there was something like a “Sonnet”, i would surely have pressed it and got off the plane.  LOL.  Twelve “f***ing” hours in that plane was too much for me.  Apart from this, the food and service was fine on the Air Mauritius plane.

At the Heathrow Airport, i was really pissed off because i didn’t bring along my chest X-RAY report and i had to do the X-RAY on the spot at the Airport’s Health Control department.  I had to wait for another 2 tiring hours before i passed the immigrations.  Thank goodness, they didn’t check my luggages else i would have been in deep trouble with all those medicines, pickles, “Boite Fromage”, “Boite thon”, etc.

First time visiting a bit of london.  Well dressed with gloves, overcoat, scalf, thick jeans…Hmm sound cool but that much dressings didn’t seem sufficient to me once outside the house…Anyways, i’ve visited a number of shops and it’s interesting to find many shirts/ t-shirts with the “Made in Mauritius” tag being sold for £15-£50.  You surely would have got those for Rs 50-250 at “Bazarre port-louis”

Too much walking and travelling by tubes just to buy my new HP DV7 laptop.  But that was kind of fun!!! Walking in the streets with a temperature of 3-4 degrees….Cool!!!

Yesterday, I was browsing some of the websites that I usually visit once upon a time, and I found a very interesting article. Well, when you see “Google Earth” + “Tomb Raider” + “CHALLENGE” in an article’s title it does attract considerable amount of attention. Right?

What it’s about?

Atari has launched an online challenge in order to promote Lara Croft latest game, “Tomb Raider Underworld“. The most fascinating part of the online challenge is that it uses Google Earth Plugin to play the game.

How the game works?

Everyday, a clue is made available of the website of the game.
Something like this:

“A mysterious three, don’t get lost in the western sea“

You have to search the earth to find the location provided by the clue. If your guess is right and you zoom in sufficiently, you will see an orange Tomb Raider icon. If you see that, it means that you have solved the puzzle. Click on it, fill in the form and win a PS3. Simple!!!

Note: I’m not sure if this contest is worldwide or not. But it’s worth playing it either ways.

How? Why? Let me explain.

Initially, I have been using ADSL 128 for over a year and then switched to MyT 256 and again used it for over a year. Afterward, I started working and I thought that I could afford for a better internet connection. I emailed MT and made a request for ADSL 512 and the cancellation of my MyT 256. The cancellation effect was immediate. The next day, my current internet connection was cut off but with still no sign of MT sending their technicians to install my new ADSL 512. After a week, their technicians came without even phoning me to see if i’m available. Nevertheless, they left the modem+cd+login information on my request (mobile) but quite surprisingly, they did take away the MyT equipment( WI-FI, TNT decoder, LiveBox, etc).

OK, fine with me!!!

The most interesting thing is that, for the past 9-10 month of my ADSL 512 subscription, I have been paying the subscription fee of an ADSL 128 instead. Even though, i have contact MT twice regarding this matter, nothing happened. Actually, something did happened!!! They sent me a letter along with my telephone bill (May), stating that they made a mistake in the previous bill as such they have now waived off Rs1000 (line conversion fee). But still the bill contained a subscription fee for ADSL 128.

Saga is over now!!!

Now that they came to know about their mistake, I am actually thinking to switch back to MyT 256. The reason is simply because I won’t be in Mauritius for 2 years and paying for ADSL 512 will be futile since, my parents will be the only ones to use Internet.

So, thanks a lot MT.

By the way, i will receiving new equipments for my new MyT subscription. If anyone knows how to tweak the livebox IOS, feel free to tell me. I might be able to test it out on my old livebox

At last, Phoning Manager V2 is finally ready for use. I have been on this .NET project for more than 4 month. What an experience that was!!! Learning VB.NET and developing at the same time was simply fantastic.

Today, was the first “real” test of the application. A total of 3000 records was loaded into the database. Everything worked perfectly well, expect for the part where i had to explain (*in french*) to the girls how to use the application. After that came the worst part. Sitting for more than 2 hours by their side and monitoring their actions and taking notes for any further optimisation (Version 2.1.0)

Anyway, it feels great to see your application working fine after all those googling/debugging sessions.

What is Phoning Manager?
Well it is a multi-threaded client - server application that has the main purpose of facilitating the tasks of the teleagents and their supervisors. The server automatically send contact details and relevant questionnaires to the teleagents once they have finished a call or when they are free. The server intelligently caters for relaunching of calls at specific date/time. The supervisor has now more managerial controls, i.e, watching realtime statistics of the duration, number of calls, number of break, etc per teleagents or campaign. In short, it’s about optimisation.

Anyway, the interesting thing about this network is the 15m AV cable that i made myself. Apart from distributing Canal + signal from my room to the ground floor, it does another superb thing. Whenever i press play on windows media player or VLC player( on my PC of course), i can choose to have the image on my 29″ TV on the ground floor. Great isn’t it!!!

By the end of this year, i intend to make my room a multimedia room. Credit goes to my father, who had the great idea to make my room large enough( length: 12 m, width: 6 m).
