The last lecture on parallel processing was quite interesting. Mr A.Meetoo talks (after lecture time) made us ponder about our future. Many of us were planning to enter the Job world and start earning a decent living.
Sound Cool enough…Brilliant start…
But what after 5-10 years? Are we going to climb up the ladder of progress with our BSc. degree?
“One must have at least a master degree to be able to get promotion” heard that somewhere
This was where everyone including me, started to reconsider our future. A master degree course is normally 1-2 years full-time or 2-3 years part-time. Hmmm
How to get your Master Degree?
Many of us cannot afford to do a MSc. course because it costs. So, what should we do?
Well, there is a special loan scheme by SBM that allows students to do their further studies without a having to worry about the money. Here is the description of the Achiever’s Loan Scheme
| To offer educational loans for students following courses at universities and training centres in Mauritius and/or abroad with, a moratorium on capital repayment during the period of study, loan limit up to Rs 4,000,000, 100% financing and attractive interest rates. |
A simple scenario
Let’s say you want to do your MSc Computer Science at the University of Mauritius. The course cost around Rs200 000 (Rs100000 each year) and the degree is a 2 year course.
According to the SBM Achiever Loan plan, the student will have to pay only the interest of the sum paid to the University each year (interest on Rs100000) rather than on the whole loan taken (Rs 200 000). You start paying the principle amount 6 month after your course is completed.
Better Plans
The UOM may not provide the MSc. course you want to do, then the next destination may be France. Why?
Because the cost for tertiary education is reasonable/affordable there. Here is a small paragraph taken from wikipedia on Education in France

Another characteristic is the low tuition costs. Since higher education is funded by the state, the fees are very low: the tuition varies from 150 € to 400 € depending on the university and the different levels of education (licence, master, doctorat). One can therefore get a Master’s degree (in 5 years) for about 750-2,000 €. Additionally, students from low-income families can apply for scholarships, paying nominal sums for tuition or textbooks, and even getting a monthly stipend. However the price for tuition in engineering schools can reach 5000 € a year, and some business schools charge up to 8000 € a year.
Health insurance for students is free until the age of 25, so only the living costs and books expenses have to be added.

Many of you will argue that Google Map is better than Yahoo Map. Well, it may be the case. But, i prefer yahoo map . The simple reason because Yahoo Map covers Mauritius more than Google Map. According to me Yahoo Map has a better interface than Google Map
What do you think?
